TheDragon Boat Festival is a traditional Chinese holiday which falls on the fifthday of the fifth month of the Chinese calendar.

Italso known as Duanyang Festival, Double Five Festival, day festival, etc, afestival that integrates worship of gods and ancestors, praying for good luckand warding off evil spirits, celebrating by holding Dragon Boat races andeating sticky rice dumplings called Zongzi. The Dragon Boat Festival wascelebrated during the Spring and Autumn and had been for thousands ofyears.  The Western Jin Dynasty"Fengtu Ji" said, "midsummer Dragon Boat Festival. Duan is themeaning of the beginning."
